Berlin-based IoT cloud communications provider EMnify, recently announced that it has launched an eSIM option for customers. What’s more – users can install EMnify’s global SIM profile on compatible devices in mere seconds – eliminating the need to order and swap physical SIM cards. The deployment process takes just minutes instead of days thanks to the company’s most recent offering.

All this has a ton of implications, too, as developers can significantly speed up the time it takes to bring a viable IoT solution to market. According to a company spokesperson:

“IoT developers can sign up on the EMnify platform and order a free evaluation package with IoT SIM cards and a prepaid balance to try out network services and all available platform features for 60 days.”

Developers can immediately access and explore other EMnify platform functionalities like Cloud Connect, Data Streamer, and OpenVPN; at no cost, according to a statement released by the company. Knud Kegel, VP of Product at EMnify, further noted:

“User experience is at the core of our product, and we constantly strive to make it as easy, fast, and seamless as possible for IoT developers to get started with our platform and APIs.”

The eSIM extends a lot of the self-service functionalities of the EMnify cloud platform, with the folks at EMnify noting that – until now, SIM cards were the only non-cloud-native component in its offering. Compatible with many devices, users can download the eSIM profile by scanning a QR code to start their 60-day trial for free. EMnify says its vision is to transform what it calls “Complex cellular connectivity into an easy-to-consume cloud offering.”

According to IDC, the CPaaS market value is poised to reach $10.9 billion by 2022 – showcasing just how much the market continues to evolve. Quite frankly, the pace at which it is doing so – is remarkable. Connected devices and other IoT smart services mostly drive what is largely seen as the next generation of CPaaS capabilities, with organizations adopting CPaaS at higher rates than ever before.

IoT is no small market either. According to Statista, by the year 2025, there will be an estimated 31 billion IoT device connections globally. IDC also notes that the opportunity in the market should only blossom. By the year 2022, industry revenues could reach well over one trillion dollars.
